We somehow landed in Jasper National Park in Canada. Surrounded by majestic mountains and magnificent azure and turquoise lakes. We hoped to see, and I hoped to photograph some amazing wildlife – including moose.
If you have read my previous post titled “Moose Quest”, you know my experience actually spotting moose. In Jasper, we were told that Moose Lake was appropriately named. Moose were spotted there all the time. We decided to hike to the lake in the evening to hopefully see and photograph some.
Armed with bear spray and mosquito repellent we headed up the trail. We crossed paths with a couple families enjoying the evening, and had an engaging conversation with a young couple from Singapore. We eventually had the lake to ourselves and read quietly on the shore.
It was a lovely. Unfortunately, we did not see a single moose. I don’t have my dad’s skill of drawing/painting. I couldn’t help trying as I imagined the lake while we were there and after we left. Hopefully, some can relate…

The first is what I imagined while we sat at the lake and read (notice the eyes). The second is what I imagined happened after we left…
