Signs – Webster’s defines a sign as any visible thing, motion, appearance or event which indicates the existence or approach of something else. In the Bible, signs and wonders often accompany the sharing and spreading of the gospel. Although, we are cautioned to examine signs and wonders for their spiritual source.

A much more mundane use of the word refers to everyday, posted signs. They are spread across our daily life from road signs, to posters, flyers, billboards, notices etc. We are so bombarded that our brains often process, sort and even discard them without conscious thought.
Occasionally however, we see a sign that stops our normal process and makes us think a little deeper. I have a small collection of these signs to share…
This first one is a favorite. I saw it on a small rural road between eastern California and Nevada. I actually stopped, turned around and drove past the sign a second time to confirm I actually saw it correctly.

This sign just made me wonder…
Is it a joke? It looked like an official sign. How many cows have to fall from a cliff onto a road to warrant such a sign? Is it really possible enough cows wander off the cliff that this sign is necessary? Are these cows particularly clumsy? What exactly is one supposed to do with the information provided? Seems that an appropriately placed barrier may rectify the issue?
